Zois Boukouvalas is an Associate Professor of Data Science at American University and Associate Director for AI Programs at the Center for Data Science.
His research focuses on responsible and reliable AI, multimodal learning, and applied machine learning in high-stakes domains such as healthcare, computational chemistry, and public policy.
He has served as Principal Investigator on multiple funded research projects, mentored graduate students who have gone on to leadership roles in government and industry, and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He is the author of the book Machine Learning Evaluation: Towards Reliable and Responsible AI, which informs and extends his research agenda on Responsible AI.
